Coming out of a recent Spring Green retreat and on the verge of marking our 16th year in business, I’m feeling energized — and deeply proud — of who we are and how we work together to help our clients achieve more. Here’s a snapshot of our doings and learnings:
- One of my favorite takeaways from the week was, “We’re great. And we can keep improving.” Whether it was thinking through new ways to adopt creative and digital earlier on projects, reinforcing our commitment to writing excellence and editorial checks, or remaining focused on our vision “to be your first thought for strategic communications and win your loyalty,” I was blown away by this team’s ability to assess where we are and quickly see where we need to go.
- In an Emergenetics “Meeting of the Minds” workshop with executive comms coach and facilitator Laura Fravel, we shared our individual strengths and preferences, and how we can use them boldly and ask others to step in where our own relevant aptitudes aren’t as prevailing as theirs. Understanding which team members naturally favor certain attributes lets us use that knowledge to work more effectively. That clarity about how we think and collaborate will help us work more seamlessly and successfully as a remote firm.
- Our small but mighty team continues to punch well above its weight. As we worked through an afternoon of “Account Speed Dating” I was blown away by the breadth and depth of the work Spring Green is doing for eight clients, some with multiple accounts. Two Fortune 500 brands. A tier‑one research university. Major employers in major American cities. Household names. Our four longest-running clients have been with us for nearly 50 years combined. We’ve earned the trust of decision makers because we deliver hearts‑and‑minds‑changing communications — thoughtful, clear and held to the highest standards.
Our retreat was a masterclass in “yes, and” teamwork, the kind that makes good ideas stronger and strong ideas unstoppable. While each of us is an experienced solo practitioner, gosh are we better together. This is how we grow — with unity, confidence and momentum.
